That is an incredibly buggy and slow version that was obsoleted immediately and frequently while MySQL recovered from the poor-quality 5.0 initial release. It was ridiculous that RHEL didn’t update their repositories for so long, and I saw many serious downtime incidents because of bugs that had been fixed in official MySQL for years while RHEL was stuck on that old nasty version. I attempted to compile MySQL latest stable release and 2 releases before that from the 3.22 release. Compilation goes ok. When server is to be started (creating the default tables) it crashes with segmentation fault and dumps core. I attempted to compile MySQL 3.23.20 to 24 on the same system. Compilation goes ok.
